A proposed commercial development in Ogden could bring in retail and restaurant space

A new commercial center could be popping up in Ogden.

Middle Sound West Commercial is a proposed commercial center located next to Middle Sound West Apartments off Market Street, according to site plans submitted to New Hanover County.

The center would include two 12,000-square-foot, two-story buildings for commercial use. The commercial use would include retail and office space. There is also a proposed 3,200-square-foot building that would be used for a restaurant and would include an area for outdoor seating, according to the site plans.

The total building gross floor area would be 27,200 square feet.

The surrounding area of the center would include the Middle Sound West Apartment complex’s maintenance office and pet spa area to the west and the apartments to the north.

A large stormwater facility is located south of the proposed development site.

Smithfield’s Chicken and BBQ, Publix, Starbucks and Harbor Freight Tools are some of the commercial businesses in the area.

The center would be able to be accessed by Lendire Road and there would be 70 parking spaces to cover office, retail and restaurant guests or workers, according to the site plan.

The applicant’s plans are scheduled to go before the New Hanover County Technical Review Committee on June 5. The applicant is Robert J. Hollis with Front 7241 Market Street, LLC, according to the site plan application.

The existing zoning is B-2 undeveloped, and the proposed use would be commercial use.
