Pro boxing to return to Southwest University Park on June 28

Leg Up Entertainment and Ringside Ticket are bringing boxing back to Southwest University Park on Friday, June 28 in Bouts at the Ballpark.

Bouts at the Ballpark includes two main events featuring Fernando “El Feroz” Vargas Jr., vying forthe Super Welterweight WBC Fedcar Championship, and Nathan “El Morenito” Rodriguez,competing for the featherweight title. Their opponents and undercards, including professional andamateur boxers from the region, will be announced later.

Vargas is the son of former junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas, who fought in El Paso in 2001 and defeated Wilfredo Rivera by stoppage at the Don Haskins Center.

The younger Vargas is 14-0 with 13 knockouts.

Bouts at the Ballpark gates open at 6 p.m. and fights start at 7 p.m. The fights will be streamedworldwide on DAZN.

Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Southwest University Park DurangoBox Office, online at SouthwestUniversityPark.com, and by phone at 915-533-BASE (2273).Season Seat Members will be given the first opportunity to purchase tickets starting at 10 a.m.Thursday, April 18.
