Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie Style a Pleated Skirt Two Ways for London Party

A good pleated skirt is a wardrobe staple that transcends seasons and styles—paired with a cardigan, it can be preppy; with a blazer, elevated; with a graphic tee and boots, grunge; with sneakers, sporty. The list goes on, and Thursday night, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie proved the versatility of the piece by styling two different skirt styles two very different ways to attend Ellie Goulding’s VIP after-party following the singer’s concert at Royal Albert Hall.
Eugenie stayed true to her minimalist style in a gray sweater dress. The piece featured a ribbed collared top with short sleeves, and a panel at the waist that acted as a belt, breaking up the top from the pleated skirt that flowed down past her ankles. Eugenie finished the look with nude suede pumps and a leather bucket bag in creamy white and caramel brown. Her only jewelry was a dainty gold necklace and small hoop earrings, and for glam, she wore natural makeup and a side-parted, wavy hairdo.
Older sister Beatrice introduced a sporty-glam moment with her look. This one was composed of a dark gray sweater paired with a breezy pleated skirt in a deep green. Over her top, Bea unexpectedly layered a black bomber jacket with string ties and pockets; and she finished the look with pointy black flats with a giant silver crystal brooch on the front. She had her hair pulled back into a bun and, like her sister, wore minimal makeup.
Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also joined them for the night out. The royals posed for photos together, in their distinct looks, and were photographed spending time with Goulding. The singer and the royals actually go way back. Apart from being longtime friends with Bea and Eugenie, Goulding famously performed at Princess Catherine and Prince William’s royal wedding reception in 2011. More recently, she sang at William’s 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards ceremony in Boston.
