When Kate Middleton recorded a personal video message to announce to the world that she had been diagnosed with cancer, she did so solo. It is understood that her husband, Prince William, was not present at Windsor Castle when the clip was filmed on March 20, 2024; Kate wanted to deliver the message on her own.

In her video, however, Kate spoke about her husband's support throughout the past few months. "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance," the Princess said, "as is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both."

According to reports, Prince William was "extremely proud" of Kate's strength and bravery in recording the video. He has yet to appear in public since the news, as the Waleses' three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are currently on Easter holiday, and the family is spending time in private—they will not be attending Easter Sunday services in Windsor this week, and are reported to be spending the break at their country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

It's likely Prince William will return to engagements after Easter holiday ends on April 17. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said, "The Prince will continue to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since the start of the year."

Just a day after her cancer news was made public, a Kensington Palace spokesperson emphasized that both Will and Kate have been "enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness' message."

"They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time," the statement continued.
