Prince William Gives Update on Kate Middleton and Their Children

Prince William offered a brief update on Kate Middleton amid her battle with cancer.

The Prince of Wales attended the grand opening of James Place Newcastle on Tuesday in Tyne, England, where a few people inquired about Kate and the children. "All doing well," the future king of England responded before complimenting one of the women's badges on her shirt.

William also thanked the women, who were draped in British flags, for visiting the charity's new center, which will offer help to men experiencing suicidal crisis in the region.

The update comes more than a month after the Princess of Wales announced on March 22 that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She did not disclose the form of cancer. Kate had revealed that, following her abdominal surgery, it had been thought the procedure turned out to be non-cancerous but tests conducted after her surgery showed doctors "found cancer had been present." She added, "My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I'm now in the early stages of that treatment."

William and Kate, who share three children -- Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 6 -- on Monday celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary. The royal couple's Instagram account posed a black-and-white throwback photo of the couple on their wedding day.

Amid Kate's health concerns, William took a step back from public engagements, but he returned for the first time earlier this month when he attended two evens in West London and Surrey. He first attended a food redistribution charity, where a volunteer there gave him cards for Kate, who earlier this month released a new portrait in honor of her son Louis' 6th birthday. Photos showed William looked visibly moved by the gestures.

Not long after those visits, William went on the road and visited several boys from the St. Michael's Church of England High School near Birmingham, England, where he appeared to be in good spirits as he offered the group a "dad joke."

While Kate continues to recover and remains out of the spotlight, King Charles stepped out with Queen Camilla on Tuesday for his first official public event since Buckingham Palace announced in February that he, too, is battling cancer. He continues to undergo treatment for the undisclosed cancer.

After Kate disclosed her own cancer diagnosis, a spokesperson told ET that Charles is "so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did." Following their time in the hospital together, Charles has "remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks, and both royals "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time."
