Prince Harry Meets Mindy Kaling at a Mental Health Event in San Francisco

In San Francisco yesterday, Prince Harry participated in a summit organized by BetterUp, a business coaching platform.

At the summit, he was joined by other notable names, including Brené Brown, Mindy Kaling, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Kaling and Harry snapped a photo together (see above). The actress and writer was previously a guest on Meghan Markle's Archetypes podcast. In the third episode of Archetypes, "The Stigma of the Singleton," Kaling and the Duchess of Sussex discussed the pressures around marriage and having children. Following Meghan's new podcast deal with Lemonada media, Archetypes is now available to stream on all podcast platforms. (Previously, it was a Spotify exclusive.)

At the BetterUp summit, Kaling and Harry were not on the same panel; the Duke of Sussex participated in a discussion titled "Beyond Burnout: Transforming C-Level Stress Into Strength." Per Sussex.com, the panel examined "how C-level leaders manage the unique pressure of their roles, build resilience, and foster a culture that supports sustainable performance." Harry, along with Dr. Adam Grant, BetterUp's Chairman of the Center for Purpose & Performance, and Kelly Jones, Cisco's Chief People Officer, spoke about "the psychological toll of leading through uncertainty."

In 2021, the Duke of Sussex became BetterUp's first Chief Impact Officer. "I was matched with a truly awesome coach who has given me sound advice and a fresh perspective," Harry wrote in a blog post at the time. "And because we believe in strengthening our own mental fitness, our entire Archewell team also has access to BetterUp coaching." He added, "Self-optimisation is not about fixing something that’s broken. It’s about becoming the best version of ourselves, with whatever life throws at us — someone who is ready for the next challenge and can meet setbacks with courage, confidence, and self-awareness."
