Prince George Already Shares This Interest with His Father, Prince William

It's no secret that Prince William is a big proponent for environmental protection and combatting climate change. Back in 2020, the Duke of Cambridge launched the Earthshot Prize Award, a $65 million-dollar prize that is awarded to those who help create “solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems.” Meanwhile, the duke has often spoken on issues related to nature, recently proclaiming that we as a society have a “pressing need to protect and restore our planet.” Now, it seems that Prince William has passed on that eco-friendly edge to one of his children.

According to a new report from The Telegraph, Prince George, 8, held a bake sale early on in the pandemic in an effort to help the wildlife conservation non-profit, Tusk. The chief executive of the organization, Charlie Mayhew, relayed the story to the publication, saying, “Prince George very sweetly did a little cake sale to raise money for Tusk during lockdown and wrote a very sweet card about it, clearly demonstrating his concern for Africa’s wildlife.”

Tusk is interested in protecting the lives of endangered species, specifically the African elephant, African rhinoceros and African lion, which are only a few of the species that will be seriously impacted due to climate change.

It appears that Tusk's message inspired the young royal, and now he's following in Prince William's footsteps.

Last fall, Prince William discussed the ways in which Prince George has taken notice of how we treat the environment. He told BBCNewscast, “George at school recently has been doing litter picking. And I didn't realize but talking to him the other day he was already showing that he was getting a bit confused and annoyed by the fact they went litter picking one day and then the very next day they did the same route, same time and pretty much all the same litter they picked up was back again. And I think that for him, he was trying to understand how and where it came from.”

We love to see this father and son share such an important passion.
