Prince Charles, Camilla turn off Twitter comments after new ‘Crown’ season, renewed support for Diana

Royally shy.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have turned off the comments section on their joint Twitter account following backlash after the fourth season of “The Crown” aired last week on Netflix.

The change was noted in the royals’ latest post Tuesday, which focused on the video call the duchess joined with charity Emmaus UK — which aims to put an end to homelessness — and her history with the nonprofit.

Comments were turned off on the two-tweet thread, a stark contrast to the pair’s tweets last week, following the show’s release, which centered on lifting up and defending Charles’ first wife, the late Princess Diana, on whom the heir to the throne notably cheated with his current wife.

While there were a few telling the couple to chin up and thanked them for their philanthropy, but clearly the detractors were enough to ruffle their royal feathers.

“I am a huge supporter of the entire royal family, however if the Crown, is even ¼ an accurate portrayal of how you treated Princess Diana when she was alive, I’m sorry Prince Charles you never deserve the throne,” tweeted one user.

“Please take the route of [Prince] Andrew until we forget your jealousy and abuse of Diana,” wrote one user.

“It was so easy to walk away from your marriage & your children when there’s a mistress waiting under your wings the whole time that you’re married!” said one.

Royal biographer Penny Junor reportedly told The Times of London that the Prince of Wales would probably be “incredibly upset” by the season and in particular, a scene in which his great-uncle, Lord Mountbatten decries the couple, on behalf of the royal family.

Junor dubbed the season “the most cruel and unfair and horrible portrayal of almost all of them.”

The season, which introduces Diana and her and Charles’ first son, Prince William, addresses “things that happened during very difficult times 25 or 30 years ago without a thought for anyone’s feelings,” confidantes of the prince reportedly told The Mail on Sunday, according to The Times. Those sources said “so many of the things being depicted don’t represent the truth.”

In the 2017 television documentary, “Diana: In Her Own Words,” recordings of Diana recount her tumultuous marriage to Charles, including his alleged apathy toward her and his ongoing relationship with Camilla from even before they tied the knot.

The Princess of Wales was killed in an August 1997 car crash as her driver fled paparazzi. She was 36.
