Unfurl the World Series championship banner and the politicians and celebrities will come out.

Usually. Surprisingly, there were few among the record-setting 42,130 fans at Globe Life Field on Thursday when the Rangers celebrated their 2023 World Series championship and played the Chicago Cubs in their season-opening game.

Spotted celebrities and politicians on hand for the festivities included:

Former President George W. Bush was back at Globe Life Field. He’s been a regular visitor for the openers and big games since his times as the franchise’s Managing General Partner and miniority owner.

Texas governor Greg Abbott was introduced before the ceremonial first pitch.

Hall of Fame catcher Pudge Rodriguez caught the ceremonial first pitch from Michael Carter, a fan from Southlake, has been attending games since the first season in 1973.
