Everyone is inexplicably hanging out in Europe sans you, several of your friends had the audacity to stay at THE White Lotus hotel without your permission, and you've had to mute basically everyone you know on Insta Stories as an act of self-preservation. But good news: Your time has come. Said time being Plan a Girls' Trip With Your Friends O'Clock, of course. And while going abroad is fun and whatever (🙄), you know what's closer and very likely cheaper? Traveling somewhere in the good ol' USA.
We've rounded up 40 flawless vacation spots across the country for you and your friends to lounge in for the ultimate girls' trip. And we fully guarantee there's something on here within driving distance of your house, if you wanna skip pricey flights and make a road trip out of it. From enchanting sunsets in Santa Fe that look straight out of a Georgia O'Keefe painting and gorgeous all-natural hot springs in Colorado to the best spots to sip Champagne in Charleston, there's something for every group chat vibe on this list.
Pro tip when it comes to picking a hotel: Stay somewhere fancy and split the cost of a small shared suite. When it comes to how many people can fit in a King-sized bed, the limit does not exist!
Palm Beach, Florida
Are beach vibes an absolute non-negotiable for your girls' trip? Palm Beach would like! a! word! This spot is definitely luxe, so it's best for a quick trip—unless you and your friends are rich, in which case a) congrats, and b) have fun living your best Four Seasons life. Things to do include: driving around while gawking at other people's mansions, lurking in The Colony's vibe-y lobby, and having at least one meal at Swifty's.
Santa Fe, New Mexico
Home to incredible restaurants, art galleries, spas (Ten Thousand Waves and Sunrise Springs are musts), and one of THE most charming downtowns on this list, Santa Fe truly earns New Mexico its "Land of Enchantment" nickname. The best time to visit is probably late fall, when tourist season has died down a bit and temperatures are dropping!
Solvang, California
What we have here is a charming Danish village smack in the middle of California. Like...there is a straight-up windmill. There's also fun Danish food (aebleskivers, anyone?) all year long, Christmas shops just 'cause, clogs around every corner, and—most importantly—tons of wine rooms. Not to mention the vineyards (Rusack Vineyards is a personal and extremely gorgeous fave).
Portland, Maine
Truly an ideal summer girls' trip spot. Stroll around the cobblestone streets of the Old Port waterfront, explore a gazillion cute shops and cafés, experience the gorgeous Maine coastline via a sailing tour, visit a brewery (there are...a ton), and eat approximately one million lobster rolls. Or better yet, book a lobster cruise!
Aspen, Colorado
Aspen is most famous for being a ski town, but trust: the après ski vibes are just as fun. We're talking snow tubing, an alpine rollercoaster, and snowmobile tours. Whatever you do, make sure to take a sleigh ride (I repeat: a literal sleigh ride) to Pine Creek Cookhouse for dinner.
P.S. Bonus points if you spend a portion of the trip watching The Real Housewives' iconic Aspen trip.
St. Augustine, Florida
St. Augustine is one of the oldest cities in America, and a ton of care has been taken to preserve the historic vibes. Meaning...it's full-blown stunning. There's a ton to do and see in the town itself, and there are both boat tours *and* cute lil' trolley tours. Just don't sleep on the extremely low-key beach!
Miami Beach, Florida
Miami Beach is the exact intersection in the Venn diagram of chill vibes and party vibes—a perfect spot if your mission involves passing out on the beach all day and staying up all night or hitting up museums and taking in Art Deco architecture.
Meanwhile, Miami proper is right there, in case you want to party in the city.
Telluride, Colorado
I mean...this town is heaven on Earth. Not going to lie, Telluride is extremely teeny and you kinda have to be into the outdoors to truly take advantage of everything it has to offer (soooo many gorgeous hiking trails), but you'll feel like you stepped back in time. Like, there's literally a saloon.
Charleston, South Carolina
Goes without saying that a visit to Sewing Down South is a must for all Southern Charm fans, but you'll also want to hit up Citrus Club at Dewberry Hotel (the viewsssss), Uptown Social, Little Palm (pool + bar = magic), and reserve a day for Folly Beach! And if you can book it, snag the Boho Rosa House—it's truly a vibe.
Nantucket, Massachusetts
I feel reallyyy confident guaranteeing that you won't regret a trip to Nantucket...especially if the group chat ~vibe consensus~ is sweet, sweet serenity. There are beaches, cute cobblestone streets, a famous lighthouse for all those group photos, beautiful boutiques for a shopping day, deee-lish seafood, and must-try ice cream from The Juice Bar. (Heads up: It's cash-only and only open during spring and summer!)
Newport, Rhode Island
THE most important thing to do in Newport? The Cliff Walk. It's a truly stunning walk along—you guessed it—a cliff, with the ocean on one side of you and some casual Gilded Age mansions on the other (which yep, you can stop in and tour). This isn't exactly a ~nightlife~ town, so consider it a great opportunity to eat huge amounts at dinner and go back to your hotel room (The Chanler, if you're feeling fancy and love a converted mansion) to sleep it off.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming
Welcome to Wyoming's famously beautiful Jackson Hole Valley, home to multiple ski resorts (or stay in the Kardashians' fave, Caldera House). Not to mention Grand Teton National Park *and* Yellowstone National Park, horseback riding, and rafting. Just pls, I beg you, go to Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, where the seats are literally saddles.
Asheville, North Carolina
Asheville is big enough that you won't run out of things to do during a long weekend, but small enough to feel extremely doable for a quick girls' trip. On top of being beautiful (hello, this photo of the fall foliage), it has a huge burgeoning restaurant scene. We recommend staying downtown to save on Ubers and hassle—but the swankiest hotel is definitely The Inn on Biltmore Estate—which, as the name implies, is on the grounds of George Vanderbilt's historic country home. You will feel....fancy!
Austin, Texas
I have one word for you: honky-tonk. Austin has incredible nightlife, and by that I mean this is a great opportunity to buy the cowboy boots you've been wondering if you can pull off...and force your friends to learn how to line dance.
During the day, Austin is a great city to enjoy on foot and explore (warning: your friends *will* take embarrassing tourist pics in front of murals). Just do yourself a favor and hit up Banger's Sausage House & Beer Garden for brunch and live music.
Palm Springs, California
If your interests include a) aesthetics, b) lounging in a pool all day, and c) the ghosts of Coachellas past, then Palm Springs is the obvious choice. It's peak dreamy, most of the hotels are ~Accidentally Wes Anderson~ (especially The Saguaro), and Palm Canyon Drive—the town's main street—has a ton of cute stores and restaurants. If you're feeling adventurous, but also kinda lazy, check out Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for incredible views without a hike.
Sun Valley, Idaho
Not sure if you've noticed, but celebrities literally...won't stop vacationing in Idaho. And there's a reason why! It's gorgeous and literally packed with lakes and rivers. Plus, Jimmy Kimmel co-owns a resort there called South Fork Lodge, which is THE place to stay and provides pretty much everything you need to enjoy ~That Idaho Life.~
Key West, Florida
Key West is a pastel-hued paradise right here in the USA. Must-dos include: snorkeling with breakfast and unlimited mimosas, a visit to Ernest Hemingway's house, and a pub crawl along Duval Street. Or, just sit on the beach while your friends beg you to come out with them...either way! Oh, and check out Kimpton Key West for a truly *vibey* place to stay.
New Orleans, Louisiana
There's a reason why so many people have their bachelorette parties in NOLA. There's a bar or delicious restaurant around literally every corner, tons of live music, and it's just a (cheesy, but true) joyful place to be. The Ace is a great spot to stay if you want to be right in the French Quarter (having a short walk back to the hotel after late nights is non-negotiable). Definitely get a drink at Hotel Monteleone, where literary greats—like William Faulkner and Truman Capote—chilled. And obviously, it goes without saying that Cafe Du Monde is a (okay yes, touristy) MUST.
Sedona, Arizona
QQ: Is your friend group in its wellness era? Sedona is waiting. There are spas and crystal shops around every corner (L'Auberge has creek-side massages), and they have something incredible called a "water to wine kayaking adventure." No need for further info, booking RN.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Bar Harbor is a gorgeous town on Mount Desert Island, but it also has the added bonus of being right next to Acadia National Park and its rocky beaches (make sure to hit up Jordan Pond House for popovers). There are tons of charming boutique hotels and inns to choose from, but it's hard to beat the Bar Harbor Inn—an incredible oceanfront lodge with spa services and a lovely pool.
Carmel-by-the-Sea, California
There's a reason celebs won't stop buying homes on this stretch of coastline: It is...stunning. Carmel is a super-sleepy-but-swanky small town, and it also happens to be pretty $$$, so this is definitely for people looking for a fancy trip. L'Auberge Carmel (originally built in 1929) is the spot to stay, La Bicyclette is the spot for French toast—and make sure to check out the nearby world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
beaches ✔️ rows of colorful homes ✔️ clubs ✔️ delicious food ✔️
San Juan truly checks every possible girls' trip box. Stroll down Calle Fortaleza and stay at Hotel El Convento if you want a boutiquey vibe in the heart of Old San Juan (and make sure to eat at El Jibarito). For a flawless beachside vibe, Condado Vanderbilt Hotel is it.
Willamette Valley, Oregon
Napa Valley, who? Willamette Valley is Oregon's not-so-hidden treasure—home to a gazillion gorgeous vineyards to tour, by which I mean day drink at. The Valley has a bunch of sweet small towns to explore—including Cottage Grove and its delightful covered bridge—but when it comes to finding a place to stay, look no further than Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard for a Tuscan vibe.
Vail, Colorado
Another Colorado ski town/Real Housewives favorite, Vail is cozy and charming. The Lodge at Vail is a ski-in/ski-out resort with spa service for post-skiing R&R. For après ski, check out Pepi's Bar and The Red Lion!
New York, New York
New York is obviously incredible, but our advice? Don't try to pack too much into a short trip and stick to less touristy areas. Yes, book a Broadway show and go to the Met, but otherwise spend your time walking around and exploring the city on foot. (If you're into the cute cobblestone street vibe, Soho and Dumbo—pictured here—are great for strolling.) A Carbone reservation is always a good idea if you can get it, and for old-school NYC energy, head up to Bemelmans at The Carlyle Hotel.
Montauk, NY
If the thought of trying to navigate a girls' trip in NYC gives you hives, consider Montauk, my friend. Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa is never not fun (even in the off-season), the food is incredible, and you WILL run into a famous person and be able to fulfill your lifelong dream of submitting to Deux Moi. Try Lunch (home of the famous lobster roll), John's Pancake House for breakfast, and Montauk Brewing Company for obvious reasons.
Woodstock, Vermont
How could I not include a *prime* fall destination for the basic among us? (hi!) For stunning fall foliage and cozy downtown vibes, Woodstock is it. Though a bit of a splurge, Woodstock Inn & Resort is as cute as hotels come—and the leaf-peeping opportunities are absolutely endless if you go during peak foliage season. (Pls do not quote us because we sadly don't have an in with Mother Nature, but late September through mid-October should do it.) Middle Covered Bridge (isn't she pretty?) is ready to serve you and your girls' trip photo opp needs.
Outer Banks, North Carolina
Despite what you might think after watching certain Netflix shows, the vibes of the Outer Banks don't consist of treasure hunts and roving bands of teenagers trying to kill each other. Instead, this stretch of islands is home to sandy beaches, warm ocean water, and roving bands of wild horses. This is definitely somewhere you want to Airbnb and spend the weekend pretending you own a beach house. (Side note: Make sure to hit up Ducks Donuts).
Nashville, Tennessee
I mean, Nashville has a Honky Tonk Highway—what more do you need? The W is a great hotel option, depending on how scene-y you're feeling, and make sure to head to Shotgun Willie's (named after Willie Nelson, obviously) for BBQ. And if you want to walk in Taylor Swift's shoes, go see live music at The Bluebird Cafe.
Park City, Utah
Also known as the home of the Sundance Film Festival, Park City is one of those cities where pretty much anywhere you wander into will be an A+ experience. This place knows how to wine and dine tourists—but some must-sees on the agenda include the Ice Castles (do it for the photo opp), the Umbrella Bar for apres-ski, and the ski-in High West Distillery & Saloon. Oh, and gonna go ahead and keep it fancy/iconic by recommending Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley.
Pagosa Springs, Colorado
The healing mineral water hot springs at Pagosa Springs are completely incredible—and there's nowhere better to stay than The Springs Resort. While you're there, you can also book a hot air balloon ride (very Bachelor Nation coded) or an old locomotive train ride...but whatever you do, check out Pagosa Baking Company for treats. A true gem.
Ojai, California
Ojai is a small and completely stunning city (more so village) north of Los Angeles, filled with art galleries and delicious restaurants (go to The Dutchess, I beg you). It's overall a great place to just relax, meander, and lounge. Staying at the historic Ojai Valley Inn is very much part of the experience and 10/10 worth the splurge.
Amelia Island, Florida
Don't sleep on Amelia Island—home to tons of luxury resorts, 13 miles of white sand beaches, and absolutely pristine water to swim in. There's a super sweet historic district to explore, Omni Amelia Island will not disappoint (nor will Timoti's when it comes to amazing seafood), and Wicked Bao is great for a quick bite.
Napa Valley, California
I mean, listen: If you have the budget and love day drinking, not going to Napa Valley for your girls' trip would be a mistake. Stay at Carneros Resort and Spa, book a driving service so there's no need for a designated driver, and hit up one of the hundreds of vineyards. OR take the Napa Valley Wine Train, which is fully a thing that exists! Good food is plentiful everywhere, but a fave is Goose & Gander due to the speakeasy, The Charter Oak for dinner, and English muffins at the Model Bakery.
Lake Tahoe, California
Here's another option for the outdoorsy among us, and it's perfect in pretty much every season (though the swimming, kayaking and hiking in the spring and summer are hard to beat). You can tour the lake on a wine-tasting boat cruise, check out South Lake Brewing Company, and considering staying at the swanky Ritz-Carlton (pretty much the picture-perfect lodge) or the Desolation Hotel (a little more modern).
Las Vegas, Nevada
I mean, do we really have to explain why Vegas is an iconic girls' trip location? The A-lister residencies, the celeb restaurants, the casinos, the funky antique shops. It! Is! CAMP.
Santa Barbara, California
There's a reason celebrities won't stop moving here, mmmkay? Get tapas at Loquita near the beach, grab lunch at Honor Bar in Montecito (while keeping an eye out for Harry and Meghan, naturally), head to State Street for nightlife, and try Mar Monte Hotel for a slightly more budget-friendly option than, ya know, the Rosewood Miramar.
Big Sky, Montana
Big Sky is another great option if your group is into skiing, but it's also a good spot for that one awkward friend who never learned and still wants to be included (hi again)...mostly thanks to the cute and walkable town, delish restaurants, and cozy bars. We recommend staying at the Wilson Hotel (spectacular views, a pool, and right in town center) and enjoying music and barbecue at Lone Mountain Ranch on Sunday.
St. Michaels, Maryland
One of the best coastal towns in the USA, IMO! You'll recognize the Inn at Perry Cabin from Wedding Crashers—which also happens to be a great spot to stay—and while you're at it, check out Lyon Rum Distillery, Ava's Pizzeria, and Hooper Strait Lighthouse!
Asbury Park, New Jersey
One more coastal town before we go! Asbury Park is super retro and steeped in beachside Americana. I mean, the retro arcade? It's iconic! The beach is great, the boardwalk is better, and we're obsessed with the vibes at the Asbury Ocean Club.
