Presenting the 2024 Providence Journal All-State Gymnastics selections

The All-State Rhode Island High School Sports Awards is proud to announce the player of the year nominees for Gymnastics. The winners will be announced during the live show on Thursday, June 27, at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

During the live show, athletes of the year in 30 sports will be honored. In addition, top teams, coaches and overall athletes will be honored as will a Courage Award winner. Nominated athletes who RSVP will receive a complimentary ticket to the event thanks to sponsors. Details on how additional tickets can be obtained will be available soon.

The All-State Rhode Island High School Sports Awards show is part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country. This year, one school from the area will win a $1,000 donation to its athletic department through our School Spirit Contest.

Championship recap: Warwick wins gymnastics championship; La Salle's Horrigan is all-around champ

Burrillville, Junior

The Burrillville star wasn’t in the top 15 in all-around entering the championship, but beat her average score by more than a full point to grab a share of fifth place (35.2 overall score) in the competition. Allen’s 9.1 score on beam was third-best in the event.

Pilgrim/Toll Gate, Senior

Bromage topped her all-around average by nearly a full point to take runner-up honors in the competition as Warwick won the Division I team title. She also recovered from a punctured lung in time to lead Warwick and finished Top 6 in each routine, including second-place honors in floor (9.4).

Johnston, Freshman

The freshman’s first-place finish on vault (9.45) and 10th in all-around might have been a surprise to some, but the Panther entered the championship with potential. Desmarais’ all-around average of 34.87 was good for 10th in the seedings and she nearly matched that score in the championship.

La Salle Academy, Junior

Horrigan entered the gymnastics state championship with the top seed and left with the day’s top prize. The Ram bested her all-around average to earn first place and also snagged golds in bars (9.25 finish) and beam (9.5). Beam, the star’s best event, iced the all-around prize at the state championship.

Pilgrim/Toll Gate, Senior

The Warwick standout returned this season from a knee injury and was slated second for the all-around competition. She finished third, behind her teammate, in all-around (36.35) and won the floor routine with a top score of 9.55. Her vault score (9.25) helped send the Pilgrim/Toll Gate co-op program home with the Division I team crown.

Rowan Snyder

Portsmouth, Junior

Portsmouth won the Division II team championship and Snyder was a big reason why. The Patriots’ star beat her average by nearly a full point (36 overall score) and finished fourth. She had third-place finishes in bars and floor, and snagged fourth in beam.
