Prep roundup: Mason girls, Corunna boys win Bulldog Invitational

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

BULLDOG INVITATIONAL

MASON — Tori Lator and Jada Houghton were individual event winners while helping Mason claim the title at its own invitational Friday. Lator won the 100 and Houghton had a personal best throw of 31-0 while winning the shot put to help the Bulldogs claim the team title with a score of 118.5. Mason edged runner-up Holt by half a point. Malaysia Thompson won the 200 and 100 hurdles and was part of the winning 400 relay team for Holt.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

BULLDOG INVITATIONAL

MASON — In a meet featuring the top two placing teams at last year’s Division 2 state meet, reigning state champion Corunna captured the title with a score of 136.5. Mason, last year’s state runner-up, took second with 126.5 points. Tarick Bower won the 100 and long jump and was on the winning 400 relay team to lead Corunna.

SOFTBALL

PORTLAND 14, OLIVET 0 / PORTLAND 16, OLIVET 4

Bella Spitzley went 3-for-4 with four runs and Lily Thelen had a triple while going for 2-for-3 with five RBI in the Raiders' opening 14-0 win. Jayden Townsend went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI and Thelen scored four runs and drove in two to help Portland complete the CAAC White sweep.

LINDEN 18, OWOSSO 0 / LINDEN 12, OWOSSO 4

Paul Hrncharik, Eden Ackley and Carson Moore each notched two hits for the Trojans in their losses..

OVID-ELSIE INVITATIONAL: FOWLERVILLE 5, ITHACA 0 / ITHACA 5, IONIA 4 (SO)

Rylee Strait made 11 saves for the Yellowjackets in their loss to Fowlerville. Emily Ahearn scored four goals against Ionia for Ithaca, which won the shootout 3-1 to earn the win.
