Paramount+ has deleted some of its own content from the service, including a movie starring Power actor Omari Hardwick that only came out last year.

As reported by Deadline, the streamer has removed Nickelodeon family sports film Fantasy Football, which also starred Destiny Child icon Kelly Rowland and Black-ish's Marsai Martin. It only premiered in November.

Other casualties of this recent purge include the revival of Inside Amy Schumer (which returned in October last year), the Dave Grohl-directed documentary From Cradle to Stage, thriller anthology Tell Me a Story, musical family comedy Snow Day, and docuseries Ghislaine: Partner in Crime.

A host of Nickelodeon shows are also part of the chop, including the Monsters vs Aliens and Peter Rabbit spin-offs.

This follows the announcement that Paramount+ was cancelling and removing four of its exclusive series: The Game, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Star Trek: Prodigy and drag singing competition Queen of the Universe.

Rivals Disney+ and Max (formerly HBO Max) have also been removing their own shows, with only a few of them confirmed to be moving to new homes on platforms like free ad-supported streaming channels (think Amazon's Freevee or Pluto TV, for example).

It is believed the streaming services are cutting shows due to subscription numbers decreasing.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies creator Annabel Oakes recently called the removal of the show from Paramount+ "brutal".

"The cast, my creative partners, and I are all devastated by the complete erasure of our show," she said.

"People are already sending messages and videos about how much the show meant to them, and I absolutely love hearing and seeing them. The #1 thing we would love is for you to watch the show before it comes down."
