Possible tornado reported in Wilson County as storms move through Middle Tennessee

The National Weather Service in Nashville said Monday afternoon that radar was showing a tornado moving across eastern Wilson County, north of Highway 70.

Reports of the storm began coming in at about 3 p.m.

Hail measuring up to 1 inch with winds reaching up to 60 miles per hour are expected as the storm continues to move through Middle Tennessee.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for northwestern Coffee County until 6:45 p.m. Monday. The weather service said there is debris, evident of a potential tornado touchdown in Wilson County, but no damage has been reported in Wilson County.

Wilson County officials also told The Tennessean Monday that no damages had been reported.

In Sumner County, a flood advisory was issued until 6:30 p.m. as excessive rains continued. Impacted areas include low-lying and poor draining areas and rises in small streams, the NWS reports.

The weather service will be conducting an investigation into the possible tornado touchdown in Wilson County, officials said, though it was was not immediately clear Monday on when it could happen.

Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms are likely Monday afternoon in Nashville, officials said, noting a 30% chance before 10 p.m..

And wind gusts could reach as high as 25 miles per hour as the storms continue to push through.
