Portage HS scores | May 6: Field baseball seals outright Metro Athletic Conference title

Field clinched the Metro Athletic Conference baseball championship outright with Monday's 8-0 win over Cloverleaf.

Landon Homan tossed a three-hit shutout to move to 6-0, striking out six without a walk.

Drexal McAmis singled and drove in two runs, Ethan Rinehart had a double and an RBI and Carter Little had two singles and an RBI for the Falcons.

Roosevelt 1, Tallmadge 0

Tristyn Page tossed a six-hit shutout to win a pitcher's duel against Blue Devils' ace Keegan Gilbride.

Teddy Maccarone doubled and scored the game's lone run on a Tony Baggetta sacrifice fly.

Scottie Spears had the other hit for the Rough Riders (10-11, 5-7 Suburban American).

Mogadore 9, Aquinas 0

Ronnie Skye and Dylan Benedum combined on a shutout, with Skye tossing four perfect innings and Benedum adding three zeroes.

Tanner Buso, Austin Constantine and Corey Lehner led the Wildcats at the plate with two hits apiece.

Southeast 6, Rootstown 3

Nate Muncy and the Pirates responded after the Rovers scored three runs in the top of the first. Muncy ended up tossing five innings, allowing just the three runs and striking out 10, while Caleb Miller tossed two scoreless in relief.

Muncy also homered, as he and Bradee Blankenship drove in two runs apiece for Southeast, which scored two in the first, third and fourth innings.

Austin Biggin had two hits to lead Rootstown.

Softball

Rootstown 3, Western Reserve 0

Shelbie Krieger tossed a four-hit shutout against the Blue Devils, striking out 14 without walking a batter.

Abby White had the lone extra-base hit of the game for the Rovers, a double, and their only RBI, while Reise Thomas had a team-leading two stolen bases.

Kenston 10, Southeast 9

The Pirates fell despite recording an impressive 15 hits, including three apiece by Addie Goldstein, Izzy Schuller and Mya Sutcliffe. Morgan Muncy and Ava Stephens added two hits apiece. Neena Truex, Muncy, Stephens and Sutcliffe each had a double.

Windham 14, Kidron Central Christian 4

Ka'Neese Cunningham yielded just two hits in picking up the complete-game victory for the Bombers in Monday's Division IV sectional semifinal.

Freshman Makenzi Bryson sparked the offense with an inside-the-park homer in the third and a 2-RBI single up the middle in the fourth. She finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs.

Skylar Bailey added a 2-RBI single for Windham.

Manchester 9, Field 5

Down 6-0, the Falcons battled back to within a run before the Panthers pulled away late.

Kailyn Gressman and Mckayla Miller each homered for Field (20-3), while Jessica Pollard and Tia Ulrich also tallied extra-base hits with a triple and a double, respectively.
