COVENTRY TWP. — Mckayla Miller turned on a high pitch and blasted it over the left-field wall for her first homer of the year and Maddie Burge added her ninth in the later innings as Field softball moved to 10-0 in the Metro Athletic Conference with a 16-5 victory over host Coventry.

After Scarlet Dimeff gave the Comets the lead with a solo shot in the first, Miller tied it with her homer in the second and Jessica Pollard added a 2-RBI triple to the left-field gap before the inning was through.

The Falcons scored four runs apiece in the second and fourth and seven in the sixth, which was plenty for Burge on the mound.

After allowing three runs on four hits over the first two innings, Burge hit a groove, including three straight scoreless frames as Field built a big lead.

Lilli Sutkowy and Miller led the Falcons at the plate, each reaching in all four of their plate appearances, with three hits and a walk apiece.

A full feature on the Falcons will be out in the coming days.
