Poll: Vote for your favorite Cape Cod bakery

If I were vacationing on Cape Cod, I would set the alarm for a half-hour before sunrise, throw on sneakers and sweats, and head for the nearest beach that offers a good sunrise view.

After enjoying the arrival of a new day, I would hike to the nearest bakery and stand around for a while, appreciating the wafting aromas of baking bread, pastries, cookies and more.

Breathing is free ― of cost and calories ― and is a wonderful way to experience a bakery stretching awake in the morning.

Then I would order something small ― maybe a cranberry nut muffin to pay homage to Cape Cod’s historic crop ― because I know the peninsula is full of incredible bakeries and I would not want to fill up at the first one of the day.

When we asked members of the Cape Cod Times Facebook group, Good Stuff at Cape Cod Restaurants, for bakery recommendations, 42 responded with 21 suggestions.

Since there were too many to fit in our 15-slot poll, we eliminated places recently in the news ― Pain D’Avignon in Hyannis for best brunch ― and those who are closed for the winter ― Woolfie’s Coffee and Breakfast Bakery in Dennis Port, which ships year-round and is giving away, according to its Facebook page, 50 dozen muffins to celebrate its 50th anniversary. Happy anniversary, Woolfie’s.
