Poll: NY, Philly offer great places to watch MLB games

Headed to a ball game this summer?

If you're looking for the best stadium nearby, you really can't go wrong.

Sportsnaut recently released its rankings of top baseball stadiums, and the three teams playing in our vicinity -- the Phillies, the Mets and the Yankees -- all rank in the top half of the Major League Baseball stadiums.

And even better, they're all just about the same.

The site has Citizens Bank Park, home of the Phillies, ranked No. 14, followed by Yankee Stadium at 13 and City Field, where the Mets play, ranked 12.

Where would you rank these stadiums?

Citizens Bank Park

The Phillies ballpark opened in 2004. It seats 42,901. It's located in South Philadelphia in the same complex that houses the Wells Fargo Center, where the Flyers and Sixers play, and Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles.

Cool fact: Citizens Bank Park has been named the top ballpark for vegetarian options in six out of the past seven seasons.

Yankee Stadium

The New Yankee Stadium, located in the Bronx, opened its doors in 2009, replacing the stadium where the Yankees played since 1923. The new stadium holds 50,287 people, which is nearly 7,000 less than the previous stadium, although the new one includes 56 luxury suites, far more than the 19 the old stadium had.

Cool fact: Want to talk about inflation? Original Yankee Stadium cost $2.4 million to erect. The new one cost $2.3 billion, the most ever spent on a stadium.

Citi Field

The best stadium around New Jersey, according to the list is where the Mets started playing in 2009. Built adjacent to Shea Stadium in Flushing Meadows, the new stadium holds 42,000 people, making it a very cozy setting for an MLB game, and nearly 42 percent of the seats are in the lower deck. And if you like big screens, this is for you. Last year the team installed a new 17,400 square foot scoreboard in centerfield.

Cool fact: All of the seats at Citi Field are green, which pays homage to the longtime home of the New York Giants baseball team, the Polo Grounds.
