Poll: Which Dade high school athlete should be the Miami Herald’s Player of the Week? (Sept. 25)

The 2022-23 high school sports season continues to feature stellar performances by top Miami-Dade County athletes.

This week, we continue a weekly feature where we ask you to vote for the best performer of the week in Miami-Dade County high school sports.

Below is a look at the five candidates from last week’s action. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Thursday, Sept. 29, around 10 p.m.

You may vote as often as you like until then.

Here are the candidates from last week’s events:

Mark Wilder, Doral Academy, football: Wilder ran for 239 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries to help the Firebirds edge Southridge in a double-overtime thriller 46-45.

Jackie Taylor, Gulliver, girls’ volleyball: Taylor had 21 kills and 10 blocks to lead the Raiders to a four-set win over Southwest Miami. Taylor, the daughter of the late former University of Miami and NFL star Sean Taylor, dedicated the win to her father.

Antwan Smith, Booker T. Washington, football: Smith scored three touchdowns and ran for over 100 yards to lead the Tornadoes to a 26-6 victory over Miami Carol City.

Remi Bacardi, Palmer Trinity, girls’ golf: Bacardi repeated as Dade County Youth Fair golf champion after shooting a 67 at Country Club of Miami.

Nicholas Prieto, Florida Christian, boys’ golf: Prieto also repeated as boys’ Youth Fair golf champion after shooting a 4-under par 66.
