Poll: Which Broward high school football player do you think is the Offensive Player of the Year?
The 2022 high school football season is coming to a close and once again Broward County has had its share of top performers.
This week, the Miami Herald is asking you to vote on who you think was the best of those performers on offense in Broward County this season.
Below is a look at 10 of the top candidates from this season. Take our poll below to cast your vote. The poll will be open until Monday, Dec. 19, around 10 p.m. We will have a similar poll to cast your vote for the county’s top performer on defense next week.
You may vote as often as you like until then.
Here are the candidates:
▪ Mark Fletcher, American Heritage: Fletcher ran for 1,824 yards and 22 touchdowns on 206 carries entering the Class 2M final. His rushing set the tone for the Patriots to return to the state final this season.
▪ Cedrick Bailey, Chaminade-Madonna: On an offense replete with some of the nation’s best skill talent, Bailey was the conductor as he completed 203 of 289 passes for 3,355 yards, 45 touchdowns and five interceptions. His efforts led the Lions to their fifth state title in six years and seventh overall.
▪ AJ Hairston, Monarch: Hairston’s breakout season featured him completing 195 of 287 passes for 3,217 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions to lead the Knights to the Class 4M regional semifinals.

▪ Jordan Lyle, St. Thomas Aquinas: Lyle stood out even among the Raiders’ collective success, rushing for 922 yards and 12 touchdowns on only 77 carries (12 yards per carry) to lead Aquinas to the Class 3M state final.
▪ Nah’Coy Daniels, Blanche Ely: Daniels led the Tigers to wins in their first 11 games and an appearance in the Class 3M regional finals by completing 136 of 193 passes for 1,678 yards, 26 touchdowns and no interceptions.
▪ Christopher Johnson, Dillard: Johnson ran for over 800 yards and scored touchdowns rushing, receiving and on kickoff and punt returns this season to lead the Panthers to the Class 3M regional semifinals.
▪ Nate Henry, Miramar: Henry ran for 1,145 yards and 10 touchdowns on 135 carries (8.5 yards per carry) to lead the Patriots to a 10-2 season and the Class 4-3M regional finals.
▪ Jeremiah Smith, Chaminade-Madonna: Smith caught 58 passes for 1,073 yards and 20 touchdowns to lead the Lions to their fifth state title in six years and seventh overall.
▪ Brandon Inniss, American Heritage: Inniss caught 66 passes for 1,244 yards and 14 touchdowns to lead the Patriots back to the state finals.
▪ Reggie Heywood, Calvary Christian: Heywood totaled 1,879 yards and 22 touchdowns on 197 carries (9.5 yards per carry) to lead the Eagles to the Class 2M regional semifinals.

▪ Clayton Cannon Jr., Stoneman Douglas: Cannon Jr. ran for 1,594 yards on 159 carries (10 yards per carry) and scored 15 touchdowns to lead the Eagles to the Class 4M regional semifinals.
