US Rep. Trone backs County Executive Alsobrooks after primary

After an expensive United States Senate Democratic Party primary election won by Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, runner-up U.S. Rep. David Trone, D-6th, put his backing behind Alsobrooks during a show of support Thursday.

“We must unite behind Angela Alsobrooks,” said Trone, in a Maryland Democratic Party press release, which came after a party event held Thursday in Prince George’s County’s Greenbelt.

“I am grateful for Congressman Trone’s support in this race, and I commend him for stepping forward to run for the seat,” said Alsobrooks, in a campaign press release of her own Thursday.
