Police shooting in Syracuse leaves two officers, suspect dead

Two police officers were killed in the line of duty on Sunday during an encounter in Syracuse.

Two officers killed in Syracuse NY: What happened

Encounter: At approximately 7 p.m., Syracuse police officers engaged with a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of Emerson Avenue and Hamilton Street in Syracuse.

Chase: Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver evaded capture, prompting a pursuit. The officers managed to record the vehicle's license plate information.

Liverpool NY police shooting

Investigation: Upon tracing the vehicle to a residence on Darien Drive in Liverpool, New York, Syracuse police, along with Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office personnel, responded to the address.

Confrontation: Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered an armed individual, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

Casualties: One Syracuse Police officer and one Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy were struck by gunfire and died due to their injuries at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

Suspect: The armed suspect was also shot and later pronounced dead at University Hospital.
