Police seek man seen in surveillance photo for Whatcom bank robbery

A thief robbed a Ferndale bank Tuesday, Jan. 24, making away with an unknown amount of money, according to Ferndale Police.

Nobody was injured in the robbery and the thief made no implication he was armed, according to a news release from the police. The robbery occurred at around 4:35 p.m. at Banner Bank located inside Haggen Grocery on Main Street.

The robber was described as a white male, 5 feet, 9 inches tall with a regular build. He was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up, a black face covering, blue latex-type gloves, faded baggie blue jeans and white shoes.

The robber walking up to the counter and demanded the money, fleeing on foot after being given the cash, police said. Ferndale and Bellingham police and Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies searched the area but the thief was not found.

Police said the thief is not a threat to public safety at this time.
