4 wounded, gunman dead in Ohio Walmart shooting

Police in Beavercreek, Ohio, said four people were shot and the suspect died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during an incident at a Walmart on Monday.

Police said a man walked into the Walmart around 8:35 p.m. and began firing. The victims were taken to area hospitals. On Tuesday, Beavercreek Police said three of the victims were in critical condition. One victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

Beavercreek Police said no officers fired their weapons during the incident.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families impacted by this horrific tragedy," Beavercreek Police wrote in a post on X. 

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation; and the Federal Bureau of Investigations were all on site.

Beavercreek is a city of about 50,000 people 7 miles east of Dayton, Ohio.

"We’re heartbroken by what’s happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store," Walmart said in a statement. "This remains a developing situation, and we’re working closely with investigators on the scene. All questions should be directed to local law enforcement."

In August of 2014, the same store was the site of the police killing of John Crawford III, who was holding a BB gun he had picked up in the store when he was shot. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital in Dayton.
