Police name man who died in street stabbing

An 18-year-old who died following a stabbing in Leicester has been named as Codie Bambrick.

Police were called to reports of a stabbing in Glazebrook Road, New Parks, just before 13:15 BST on Wednesday.

The victim was treated for his injuries by air ambulance medics but was pronounced dead at the scene, Leicestershire Police said.

Two boys, aged 17, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in custody.

Detectives said a post-mortem examination has confirmed that Mr Bambrick died as a result of a stab wound.

In a statement, the 18-year-old's family said: “Words can’t describe the grief we’re feeling.

"In the last day or so, our world has been turned upside down.

"Codie was loved by all of us and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

“We’d urge anyone who can help police with their investigation to contact them.
