Police: man stabs 4 girls inside Braintree theater, man and woman at Plymouth McDonald's

BRAINTREE — Four girls were stabbed inside a Braintree movie theater Saturday by a man who fled, stabbed two more people in Plymouth and later crashed in Sandwich, police said.

Braintree Police said in a statement that a man, who they did not identify, went into the AMC Braintree 10 movie theater around 6 p.m. Saturday, passed the ticket counter and went into one of the theaters. Inside, he approached four girls, ages 9 to 17.

"Without saying anything and without any warning, he suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young females," the police department's press release said. "The attack appeared to be unprovoked."

The man then ran out of the theater and fled in a vehicle. The girls were taken to Boston hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers reviewed video footage that captured the license plate of the black SUV the man left in. Officers then put out a broadcast for other departments to keep an eye out for the SUV, police said.

Similar attack reported in Plymouth

Just after 7 p.m., State Police started receiving 911 calls reporting a stabbing at the McDonalds inside the Route 3 Park and Ride in Plymouth.

Troopers found a 21-year-old woman and 29-year-old man with stab wounds. They were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said in a statement.

State Police located and pursued the SUV, which crashed in Sandwich. The man was taken into custody and to the hospital for treatment.

"Preliminary investigation suggests a likely connection to an earlier incident at a movie theater in Braintree resulting in non-life threatening injuries to four juveniles," police said.
