Woman opens fire at Dallas Love Field Airport and is shot by police

A 37-year-old woman who fired a gun inside Dallas Love Field Airport terminal on Monday was shot by police and taken into custody.

No other injuries were reported.

The woman was dropped off at the airport about 111 a.m. local time and walked near the ticket counters for Southwest Airlines, Dallas Police said at a news conference Monday. She then walked into a bathroom, came back out, and began firing.

It’s unclear if the woman was aiming at anyone or anything specifically, but police said the shots were fired into the ceiling.

An officer in the area shot the woman in the lower body and she was taken to nearby Parkland Hospital for treatment.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop at the airport at 11:11 a.m. “due to security,” and Southwest confirmed that it had “paused” all arrivals and departures.

An airport spokesman confirmed to the Daily News that a shelter in place order was given after the reports of the first shots. Passengers who evacuated were rescreened by the Transportation Security Administration.

Dallas Love Field Airport is the city’s second largest behind Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
