Police identify 50-year-old who died in motorcycle crash in Des Moines

Des Moines police on Wednesday released the name of the man who died in the city’s second fatal crash of 2024.

Jonathon D. Rogers, 50, of Des Moines, was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries Monday after being involved in crash involving his motorcycle and a mid-sized SUV, according to the Des Moines Police Department.

Rogers was traveling eastbound in the 1000 block of Army Post Road at high speeds when he rear-ended the SUV, police said in a news release. Rogers was ejected from his motorcycle.

Nobody else was injured in the crash.
