Police find grenade in Quay hotel room

Jan. 27—TUCUMCARI — Law officers on Tuesday found fentanyl, two guns and a grenade in a Tucumcari hotel room while conducting a welfare check, State Police said.

Raul Villalobos, 39, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and new charges that include trafficking a controlled substance in a school zone and possession of an explosive or incendiary device.

The suspect was booked into the Quay County Detention Center, according to an NMSP news release. The NMSP Bomb Team was called in to dispose of the grenade.
