Voters have until midnight on Tuesday to register to vote for the Welsh police and crime commissioner (PCC) elections.

On 2 May, voters in Wales will be deciding who should be police commissioner in the four force areas.

Each of the main parties are standing candidates.

No other elections are taking place in Wales on that date, unlike in England where council elections are also being held in parts of the country.

They will be the first elections in Wales where voters will need to present ID - there have been warnings it could reduce turnout.

Eligible forms of ID include passports and driving licences.

If you have not already registered you can do so online at gov.uk.

Police and crime commissioners do not run the police day to day but set their priorities and their budgets.

The roles were set up by David Cameron's Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government in 2012.

There are four in Wales, overseeing each of the country's police forces - South Wales, North Wales, Dyfed Powys and Gwent.

The first election saw the lowest turnout in PCC elections in Wales - with a pan-Wales figure of 14.9%.
