Police discover potential human remains in a brook in Easton

EASTON — Police say they discovered potential human remains in Easton on Wednesday.

Police Chief Keith Boone said the department received a report of potential human remains discovered in the area of 100 Summer St. about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday.

"An area resident located the remains in a brook adjacent to their property," the police department wrote in a statement.

Detectives with the Easton Police Department and Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section responded. The area was secured while the scene was processed by investigators.

"The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner collected the remains and testing will be conducted to confirm if they are in fact human," the statement says.
