Pokémon Horizons is set to start airing in a number of countries in the coming weeks and months, with most English-speaking countries getting access to the new series in February or March next year. One country, though, is getting it a bit earlier, as Horizons is set to start airing in the UK next week on the BBC, and curiously the British national broadcaster has revealed how many episodes will be in the first season of Pokémon Horizons.

As a little bit of background, though, Pokémon Horizons started airing in Japan in mid-April, shortly after Ash ended his journey in the Pokémon world. Since then, 30 episodes have been aired, with the 31st set to air this weekend.

The series is onto its second story arc now, after the first Pokémon Horizons story arc spanned for 25 episodes. We don’t know exactly how many episodes are expected to be in the second story arc, but the BBC may have shed some light on that with its episode listings.

How many episodes in Pokémon Horizons Season 1?

The BBC’s online listings for the upcoming Pokémon Horizons anime series lists six episodes, all of which are set to air next week on CBBC, the broadcaster’s channel for child-friendly programming. After an episode airs, it will also become available on the BBC iPlayer, which can be accessed online.

Each episode is listed with an episode number, and curiously, each of those episodes is listed as being one out of 45.

Therefore, according to the BBC, there are 45 episodes in Pokémon Horizons Season 1.

Extrapolating from this, we can expect that the second story arc in Pokémon Horizons will last for 20 episodes, likely ending in a big finale. At the current rate of one episode per week, this means that the second story arc of Pokémon Horizons will wrap up in Japan in early March.

We don’t know if CBBC will continue to air episodes on every weekday following the first week of its Pokémon Horizons coverage, but we’d expect it to continue with weekly episodes following that. If that’s the case, the series will likely finish up its first season in early September, after which we’d expect the final episodes of the season will end up on Netflix in the US. This roughly tracks with prior drops we’ve seen of the Pokémon anime, so that sounds right to us.
