Pochettino on James, Boehly comments and his future

Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media before Chelsea host Nottingham Forest on Saturday, as the Blues continue to chase European football.

Here are the main lines from his news conference:

  • Pochettino said "nearly all the players will be fit and available" to face Forest. Captain Reece James is back in training and could play for the Blues for the first time since December.

  • On chasing Europe: "It's true that some good result in the past few weeks increase our belief. Of course, when you win games it is always different. In the circumstances, with 12 to 14 players out, there is always more value to the performance and the victories. The team is ready to face the last three games. It is an important objective for us to be in Europe."

  • On Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly's comments that the club's plan is coming together: "He describes reality. Todd was always very good with us, even when there were tough moments. He was always very positive, and in a private way. Being public now, and if the owner is happy, I think it's much better. We work for the club, the fans and players - but the owner also."

  • On if he is planning for next season: "The way that we work is to sit with the sporting director. We are already working and it is planned for the pre-season. We are working to try to work. We have some meetings and we are working with the responsibility to organise all the next season and all the plan. We are working for the future."

  • If he is going to be here next season: "Look, it's not important. The most important thing is to keep going, working if we are all happy. If we are happy - perfect. But it is not only if the owners are happy, or the sporting directors happy - you need to ask us, also, because maybe say we are not happy, we accept the situation and we need to split. It would not be the first time the coaching staff at the end of the season decide to not keep going. But at this end, it is always the opposite way - it is always the owners or the sporting directors."

  • More on his future: "It is two parties to make a decision - because Chelsea is not happy, the owners are not happy or the sporting directors. Maybe we are not happy because we arrive here with a job to do and in the end what we expect has not happened. I am not saying I am not happy - but it is always one side. Maybe [we need to look at the] other side."
