Playoff rewind: Gray Collegiate and Lower Richland boys, Dutch Fork,girls win openers

The high school basketball postseason kicked off on Tuesday across the state.

Several Midlands teams were in action on the first night

Jaden Gerald led four players in double figures with 17 points as defending Class 2A champion Gray Collegiate defeated Chesnee, 91-39, in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

Senior Alex Atkinson scored 20 points as Lower Richland boys defeated Camden, 69-62, in the 3A boys playoffs.

Newberry boys got their first playoff win since 2019 with a 72-57 win over Batesburg-Leesville.

Region 4-5A champion Dutch Fork opened up the playoffs with a 77-18 win over Cane Bay in the 5A girls playoffs.

Jenna Cothan hit a shot at the buzzer to give Dorman a 55-54 win over Lexington in Class 5A girls playoffs.
