Playoff update: How the last two teams standing in the Panhandle fared in the postseason

The Canyon baseball team is heading to a regional final.

The Eagles used a five-run fifth inning to top Springtown in a Class 4A regional semifinal one-game playoff at Wolfforth Frenship. Canyon took advantage of two walks and an error to start the inning, and then Zabien Urteaga and Carson Allen smacked back-to-back singles, and Jacob Burris added another RBI single in the inning.

Bayler Schilling earned the victory on the mound, pitching 3 1/3 innings and allowing one hit with two strikeouts and two walks.

The Eagles will advance to face Stephenville or Seminole in next week's regional final.

Softball

Sanger sweeps Pampa

Pampa's stellar run to the Region I-4A final came to an end on Thursday as the Harvesters lost two games to Sanger at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.

The Harvesters finish the season at 20-14 after finishing as the third place team in the rugged District 4-4A.
