Which players with state of Texas ties were picked in the 2024 NFL draft?

The 2024 NFL Draft kicked off in Detroit on Thursday. Which players selected have connections to the state of Texas?

FIRST ROUND

The first Texan selected was Byron Murphy II who attended Desoto High School before playing college football with the Texas Longhorns. The Seattle Seahawks selected Murphy with the 16th pick in the NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chefs selected Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the 28th pick in the first round.

Tyler Guyton, the Cowboys’ pick at No. 29 in the first round, started his college career at TCU before he transferred to Oklahoma. He’s a native of Manor, Texas.

SECOND ROUND

Ja’Lynn Polk, a wide receiver, was taken by the New England Patriots in the second round with the 37th overall pick. Polk is a Lufkin native who played at Texas Tech in 2020 before transferring to Washington.

The Tennessee Titans then used the next pick, No. 38 overall, to select defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat from Texas. He’s a Huntsville, Texas, native.

Edgerrin Cooper, a linebacker from Texas A&M, was taken by the Green Bay Packers with the 13th pick in the second round (45th overall).

With the next pick (46th overall), the Carolina Panthers took Texas running back Jonathon Brooks. He is a Hallettsville native.

The Indianapolis Colts took Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with the 29th pick in the second round (52nd overall). He’s a Missouri City, Texas, native.

The Miami Dolphins picked offensive tackle Patrick Paul from the university of Houston with the 23rd pick, 55th overall, in the second round.

The Detroit Lions selected Duncanville’s Ennis Rakestraw Jr., a cornerback from Missouri with the 29th pick (61st overall) in the second round.

THIRD ROUND

TCU offensive lineman Brandon Coleman was taken with the third pick (67th overall) in the third round.

The Philadelphia Eagles picked edge rusher Jalyx Hunt from Houston Christian with the 31st third-round pick (94th overall).

The Cincinnati Bengals selected Texas A&M defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson with the 34th pick, 97th overall, in the third round.

With the last pick of the third round, No. 100 overall, the Washington Commanders selected wide receiver Luke McCaffrey.
