Playa Tacos and Tequila officially closes, building now on the market
PARK TWP. — Less than two months ago, Playa Tacos and Tequila announced they’d be closed for the season.
This week, a for sale sign appeared in front of the building, marking the end of a short run for the restaurant, which originally opened less than two years ago.

While representatives for the restaurant did not respond to messages, Mark Ansara, principal senior vice president at Advantage Commercial Real Estate, confirmed the restaurant would not reopen and the space was available to buy or lease.
Ansara said the listing is new and not yet listed on the company’s website as of Friday morning. A price for the space has not been established. The listing will be posted at advantagecre.com soon, he said.
The local eatery opened its doors in June 2022, replacing the historic Ottawa Beach Inn in Park Township after owner River and Odi Hospitality Group determined the restaurant needed a new look and concept to stay competitive.
The word “Playa” is Spanish for beach and was a homage to the restaurant’s proximity to Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan.
Following the change, the eatery’s expanded patio concept remained but a remodel added garage doors for a fresh-air dining experience during the summer months and an extended full bar.
The goal was to be open year-round, unlike Ottawa Beach Inn. Despite that plan, the restaurant announced in December that after giving winter dining “the old college try,” they’d closed for the season.
“Unfortunately, with our limited indoor seating, the winter months (are) just not sustainable,” the business wrote on social media Dec. 1. “We will be closed the rest of the winter and we plan to re-open in spring 2024. We will look forward to seeing you then.”

There is no word on the future of Playa following the closure and the restaurant’s social media account has been quiet since the Dec. 1 announcement. Their website, eatatplaya.com, is now inactive.
