Planet Fitness price increase 1st since 1998. How much is classic membership rate now?

If you're working out at Planet Fitness, you'll have to pick things up and put down a little more cash.

In fact, if you're a regular member, you'll be dropping 50 percent more.

For the first time in more than 20 years, the gym that doesn't allow "Lunks" will raise its price of classic memberships from $10 a month to $15. The last time the gym raised its price was in 1998.

Planet Fitness is the gym for regular people. Typical setups are a lot of cardio machines, including exercise bikes, stair climbers and treadmills. Like other gyms, it has both free weights and machines, but the gym gears itself as a safe place to work out.

While this is the first time the gym raised its prices, it did cut back on hours at some gyms during the pandemic. Many gyms went from being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to closing at nights on weekends.
