A new Planet Fitness location is under construction in Socastee and expected to open by the end of the year.
Construction crews worked inside the former HBS Trailer Sales building at 5020 Dick Pond Road on Wednesday.
The location will feature spin bikes, free weights and 100 pieces of cardio equipment, Planet Fitness spokesperson Patrick Lloyd said in an email. Massage chairs, red light therapy and tanning beds also will be available.
The Socastee gym joins three other local Planet Fitness locations: Myrtle Beach on Seaboard Street, Carolina Forest by Tanger Outlets and Conway by the high school. In January, the Myrtle Beach location reopened after four months of renovations.
