Kids are out of school, the grill is heating up and a long weekend is here. Although it's not the official start of summer, Memorial Day is a day to honor the fallen soldiers and commemorate their sacrifices.

In Montgomery County, residents are taking the day to celebrate more than one way.

Across the county, events are being held to pay tribute to these heroes. From ceremonies to community picnics and concerts, here's a list of Memorial Day events happening in Montgomery County to celebrate.

County program at civic hall

The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization is hosting its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. at the William O. Beach Civic Hall.

City and county officials, as well as MCVSO staff will give remarks, with the keynote address given by Col. Samuel L. Preston III, Commander, Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

Musical selections will be presented by Stella McKnight and the Carnival and Encore Choirs from Clarksville High School with posting of the colors by the 101st Airborne Division Color Guard. Area Veterans Service Organizations will conduct a wreath-laying ceremony.

Memorial Day on the lawn

Celebrate Memorial Day with on the lawn of Beachaven Vineyards and Winery with live music and local food vendor.

Dos Margaritas will be on the lawn from noon to 6 and Makenzie Phipps will be performing from 3 to 6 p.m.

Beachaven Vineyards and Winery is located at 1100 Dunlop Ln., Clarksville.

Family Day picnic at Eagle Wing Ministries

Bring your blankets and chairs as you prepare to spend the evening with good games, food and entertainment as Eagle's Wing Ministries, Inc. host a Memorial Day family picnic.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., food, activities and games will start the event, followed a concert from the Bellevue Baptist Church student choir from Memphis and fireworks to end the night.

Eagle's Wing Ministries is located at 1634 Hickory Point Rd., Clarksville.

Sango Night Market offers artisans, farmers, bakers

Sango Night Market will be celebrating opening night of May 27 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Visit Clarksville describes Sango Night Market as a night that "brings culture and identity to the Sango community" as local farmers, bakers and artisans will be out.

Located at Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 3375 Sango Road, Clarksville, every Monday night from 4 to 8 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

DJ Block Party with food trucks

Love Bistro will be celebrating Memorial Day with a DJ Block Party from 1 to 4 p.m.

DJs from Clarksville and Nashville, food trucks and vendors will be at 1009 S Riverside Dr, Clarksville, TN 37040 as every celebrates the unofficial start of summer.
