Pit bull terriers tie the knot in lavish North Dakota wedding, and there’s a reason why
A North Dakota animal shelter held a wedding ceremony for two pit bull terriers up for adoption, with the hopes of finding them a new home.
The wedding between Homeward Animal Shelter dogs Fran and Earl was held on Tuesday, July 12, at a botanical garden in Fargo. Like any wedding, the ceremony featured fancy attire for the bride and groom, an officiant, photos with the bridal party, cake, a flower toss and marriage license.
“Fran & Earl just couldn’t wait any longer,” the animal shelter said in a TikTok video. “July 12th, 2022 will always be a special day.”

The two pit bull terriers are both senior dogs who appear to be inseparable. According to their adoption pages on the Homeward Animal Shelter website, they’ve “always had each other’s back” and are hoping to find a new home to “live out the glory days together.”
But before the two dogs tied the knot, Earl had to pop the question. Staff from the animal shelter helped Earl with his proposal, and he presented a “Will You Marry Me” sign to Fran — even including the ring.

A reception? Oh yeah, they’ll have one of those, too. Fran and Earl’s reception will be held on Tuesday, July 19, during the PAWS Walk, an annual fundraiser held by the shelter.
Animal shelter officials said you do not have to live in North Dakota to adopt Fran and Earl.
“We want people to see how great these dogs are. They’re sweet and lovable dogs,” Heather Klefstad, with the Homeward Animal Shelter, told WDAY. “They deserve the best home and love. They are just incredible.”
