Piedmont Natural Gas Block Party returns to Anderson: What you need to know, concert info
Summertime is here, and the Piedmont Natural Gas Block Party, presented by Larry Lyles and CBC, returns from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in Downtown Anderson at Carolina Wren Park at 111 E. Whitner St.
The Block Party is organized by the Main Street Program and sponsored by several businesses such as Piedmont Natural Gas, AnMed Health, Carolina Beer Company, Keep America Beautiful, Hill Electric Company, J. Peter's Grill & Bar, City of Anderson and County, Anmed Health, Grit, Richard Kay Superstore, Lowe's, Insurance, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, Bleckley Inn, Investments, UPS Store, Mortgage Anderson, Krause PA, Humane Society, Consolidated Southern Industries, MedShore, Peoples's Bank, Vibrant Communications and Southern Industries, Inc.
The block party will showcase diverse artists, including local bands and solo musicians.
Main Street Program Event Organizer Carey Jones said downtown block parties will continue every Thursday from May to August. "We started this event to give back to the local community and support local businesses in the area," he said.
"The event is expected to attract 700 to 1000 people." Admission is free, and people of all ages are welcome," Jones said.
