Jan. 31—Winter has brought a few bouts of snow to the region.

So far, the snowfall recorded in Albuquerque from Jan. 1 is 2.4 inches, said Scott Overpeck, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Albuquerque.

Overpeck said Sandia Park has recorded 10 inches, Cedar Crest 13 inches, Tijeras 9 inches. In some areas there was more variability of snowfall, such as Edgewood, which had 3 to 6 inches, Gallup 8 to 14 inches and Raton 3 to 7 inches.

Overpeck said snow totals are slightly behind what we had at this time last year.

"For this time of year, running about average," he said. "Maybe a little bit below, but most areas ... right around average."

February's weather outlook forecasts more snow for elevations above 7,000 feet, Overpeck said.

He said areas below 7,000 feet can expect more rain than snow.
