Picasso, Basquiat among artists showcased at new Sotheby's exhibition in Palm Beach

A new exhibition that debuted March 15 at Sotheby's showcases an array of blue-chip and younger artists.

"Post War and Contemporary Art," a selling exhibition featuring the work of celebrated artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Pablo Picasso and younger art market stars such as Lynette Yiadom Boakye and Julie Mehretu, runs through April 14 at the auction house's Palm Beach gallery.

Featuring 30 works ranging in price from $100,000 to $4 million, the exhibition offers an eclectic mix of genres and imagery, the gallery said in a release.

The exhibition is the fourth of the season for Sotheby's, and it ensures accessibility for collectors at every level while showcasing the distinct voices of the most celebrated artists of the past century and today, said David Rothschild, head of Sotheby’s Palm Beach.

"After back-to-back, beautifully curated, thematic exhibitions, we wanted to open up the offering to include a vast and eclectic group of artworks from various artistic genres," Rothschild told the Daily News. "This exhibition will be the last show of the 2023-2024 season focused on paintings, sculpture and works on paper, as the final show of the season is comprised of a select group of photographs by renowned photographer Bert Stern."

"Post War and Contemporary Art" follows Sotheby's third exhibition of the winter season, "A Line is a Dot that Went for a Walk," which closed March 10.
