AT&T is looking to fill jobs, retail and otherwise, with military vets. In addition, they have committed to a $350 million program, called "Aspire," which includes a job-shadowing program aimed at bringing students into the workforce.

UnitedHealth Group currently provides health insurance services to more than 75 million people worldwide. It recently joined the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of companies dedicated to hiring 100,000 veterans by 2020.

The company has begun a rollout of its new HSPA+ "4G" network, with speeds comparable to the high-speed LTE networks on AT&T and Verizon Wireless. T-Mobile's U.S. operations currently employ about 42,000 workers. The non-retail sector of the company is also doing well, with plans to add 350 employees at an expanding call center.

Based in Knoxville, Tenn., the family-owned company is the result of a merger between Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J travel centers. The company was originally formed as Pilot Travel Centers in 2001. Travel centers are operated under both brands, totaling around 550 locations.

Pilot Flying J recently announced their acquisition of Maxum Petroleum, a strategy intended to help build their presence in the mining industry.
