Peyton Manning and his wife, Ashley Manning, did a pretty incredible thing on Wednesday.

The longtime NFL star and his wife announced the formation of a Demaryius Thomas scholarship at Georgia Tech. Thomas, who played wide receiver for Manning on the Broncos, died earlier this year.

“Demaryius Thomas was an incredibly talented and unselfish teammate, but more importantly, he was a special person and friend,” Manning said Wednesday. “My family and I miss him dearly, and we wanted to honor D.T.’s memory by partnering the PeyBack Foundation with Georgia Tech to establish the Demaryius A. Thomas Scholarship Endowment.

“An important part of Demaryius’ legacy was the way he inspired the next generation to pursue their dreams with the same perseverance and determination that defined him. Through this scholarship to Georgia Tech, Demaryius will have a lasting impact on deserving youth from his hometown area who can follow in his footsteps and accomplish great things in life.”

Peyton and Ashley Manning were married in 2001. The couple has twins – a son, Marshall, and a daughter, Mosley. They were born in 2011.

The legendary NFL quarterback and his wife met before college. Peyton attended Tennessee, while Ashley went to Virginia.

Peyton and Ashley were introduced by family friends before the legendary quarterback went off to star for the Vols.

Over the years, Ashley played a big role in Peyton’s NFL career, including his move from Indianapolis to Denver.

“Yeah, Ashley and I actually had those conversations,” Peyton said, via Bleacher Report. “More than one. Because, you know, you don’t want to embarrass yourself. Because, they’re signing you and people are thinking they’re getting the player they had always seen before. And so, Ashley was the one that was saying, ‘Peyton, you’ve got to try. You’ve got to try.”

Peyton and Ashley Manning currently reside in the Denver, Colorado area. They’re often seen attending local games.

Some have speculated that Peyton and Ashley could get involved in Broncos ownership some day.
