Babies in paint make for extreme cuteness and chaos at Union Station baby art crawl

Jackson Pollock move over.

The iconic modern artist whose works hang in museums all over the world and feature canvases splattered with paint may have met his match.

On Thursday, parents of about a dozen babies and toddlers, all under two, brought their young Monets to Union station to participate in the baby art crawl.

Clad in nothing but their diapers, junior Cassatts immersed their hands, feet, bottoms, knees, elbows, tummies and most other body parts into non-toxic paint and crawled around on large sheets of white paper at the Engineerium at Union Station’s Science City.

The final result of this chaos? Art of course. And paint covered babies.

The messy fun was part of the Week of the Young Child activities at Science City. The four day event is described as celebrating young children and their families with hands-on, collaborative activities encouraging movement and healthy lifestyles through music, food and art. Friday is the final day for the celebration and will feature a display of the works created during the previous days’ activities.
