Phoebe Bridgers And Paul Mescal May (Or May Not) Be Engaged
The internet is convinced Phoebe Bridgers and Paul Mescal are engaged, and honestly, who can blame them? The initial rumor sparked when Paul did an interview with The Guardian, which stated that he and Phoebe “are now engaged.” Naturally, Twitter was quick to catch on, and fans pretty much lost it.
But to the dismay of many, the hype around the engagement has officially been put to a halt after the outlet seemingly changed their phasing on the article to say that they “are reported to be engaged.”
So, the question stands: Are they really engaged? Unfortunately, nothing else in the original article hints that Paul even mentioned their relationship, which makes total sense considering how private they are. He even opted to keep the relationship "mysterious" in his recent interview with Dakota Johnson for Interview Magazine.

December 2019: Phoebe Bridgers is Paul’s top streamed artist on Spotify
Every December, music lovers look forward to seeing who their top artists are on Spotify, and apparently, so does Paul. In 2019, he shared on Twitter that his most listened-to artist was Phoebe. "I mean it ain't the cheeriest of lists...," he wrote.

When you think about it, Paul basically manifested his relationship (and maybe future wife) using his annual Spotify streaming list. Genius, I know.
May 2020: Paul and Phoebe talk on Twitter.
Paul became a household name following the April release of Hulu's Normal People. The series, which is based on Sally Rooney's award wining novel, left everyone in their feels, including Phoebe.
"Finished normal people and now I’m sad and horny oh wait," she wrote.
"I'm officially dead," Paul responded.

May 2020: Phoebe and Paul meet for the first time and host an Instagram Live together.
Roughly a week after that not so subtle Twitter exchange the two met for the first time while hosting an Instagram Live for Wonderland.
During their conversation, Paul told Phoebe that he was a fan of her music. “I think it’s well documented that I love your music,” he told her.
"Aw, well, that makes me blush," she replied.
The livestream only lasted 23 minutes, but The Mirror reported that they stayed on their Zoom call for longer—and had drinks together.
June 2020: Phoebe calls Paul a "cute boy" and reveals he followed her on Instagram.
Phoebe spoke with NME about how she was spending her lockdown and shared that she just started watching Normal People and "the cute boy” (Paul) followed her on Instagram. “I got a little pitter-patter in my heart when I saw," she confessed.
By the time the article was released in June 2020, they had already spoken on Instagram and Phoebe sent Paul her new album.
July 2020: Phoebe flies to see Paul in Ireland.
Rumors began swirling after Phoebe flew overseas to visit Paul. And although they were never photographed together, they seemed to have caught up over brunch at Lemon Leaf cafe in Kinsale, Ireland.

November 2020: Paul mentions his "girlfriend" in an interview with GQ.
In an interview with GQ, Paul mentions his "girlfriend" but preferred to keep her name out of the press. He described her as “a lifesaver," adding, "To have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable. Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
At this point, there was no confirmation that he was talking about Phoebe, but fans had their hopes.
December 2020: Paul appears in Phoebe's music video for "Savior Complex."
Talk about a dream team. In December, Paul starred in Phoebe's music video for her single "Savior Complex," directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. And it was, honestly, the crossover fans didn't know they needed.
November 2021: Paul and Phoebe walk the red carpet together.
Almost a year after their collab, Paul and Phoebe make things red carpet official at the LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, California. The pair looked adorable and cozy together while chatting with Paul's The Lost Daughter co-star Dakota Johnson and director Maggie Gyllenhaal.

There was no caption needed for this relationship confirmation. Phoebe took to Instagram to share a photo of her and Paul on what appears to be a pier on a cloudy day looking happy as ever. Meanwhile, fans flooded the comment section congratulating the couple on taking things public.
February 2022: Phoebe shares another photo with Paul on Instagram.
Just when fans thought they weren't getting any more Phoebe and Paul content, Phoebe posted another pic of them cuddling a year later. The candid black and white photo was truly adorable.
