PGA betting, odds: Bet Chris Kirk in this RBC Heritage matchup

Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina, is one of the shorter courses on tour. Coming off a nearly 7,600-yard layout at Augusta to then play a 7,100-yard layout at the RBC Heritage can be a bit of a transition. As a less-than-driver course, it favors players who excel with their short-to-mid irons. That being said, there is one head-to-head matchup to wager this week. The record remains 7-1-1 after the Masters wager was canceled last week because Will Zalatoris withdrew from the event.

Chris Kirk (-130) vs. Taylor Moore

Both players have a win this season with Kirk scoring his first victory in nearly a decade in The Honda Classic, while Moore notched the first win of his career at the Valspar Championship. There are a couple of factors that separate these players and could come into play this week: short game and course history.

Harbour Town has the second-smallest greens on tour, and these same greens are surrounded by either water hazards or bunkers. Kirk is 12th in the field in around-the-green play, behind players like Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. That could be handy with these small greens.

With trees everywhere, this also caters to the short-to-mid iron players. Enter Kirk. From 100-200 yards out, Kirk is top 50 in the field and top 20 with the shorter irons. This skill could be especially useful on some of the shortest sets of Par 3s on the PGA Tour and on the Par 4s, which include none over 475 yards. Where Kirk excels, Moore is bottom 10 in the field for the same yardage markers.

Plus, Kirk at least has some course history at Harbour Town, having played there since 2011. Moore is making his first appearance. Familiarity is always beneficial. Although Kirk missed the cut last year, he did finish T7 in 2021. Kirk is playing some of his best golf, and Harbour Town could be right up his alley with yardages he can take advantage of.
