Pete Carroll Says Nothing’s Changed With Russell Wilson

On Monday night, the Seattle Seahawks put up just 10 points in a contest against the New Orleans Saints.

With Geno Smith at quarterback, Seattle’s offense has struggled to move the ball in recent weeks. Smith hit star wide receiver DK Metcalf on an 84-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but managed under 100 yards passing the rest of the game.

With Geno struggling, fans are starting to ask when Russell Wilson will be able to return from his finger injury. After undergoing surgery, it seemed like Wilson would be out until at least a Week 10 showdown with the Green Bay Packers.

On Wednesday afternoon, reporters asked head coach Pete Carroll if there are any updates involving his star quarterback.

“No,” Carroll said when asked about updates or if Wilson has had a pin removed from his finger.

Earlier this week, the Seahawks head coach made a brutally honest admission. He knows his career might not have lasted this long without Wilson.

“I’ve been here a long time. And if we didn’t have Russell, I probably wouldn’t have been here a long time,” Carroll said. “Think of all the magic he’s created through the years. One of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. And it’ll be really fun when he comes back and plays football again for us this year.”

Seattle faces off against Jacksonville this weekend. It remains to be seen if Wilson will be able to return after the bye the following week.
